Gimli Main
The Evergreen Regional library was established in 1965, extending over 5 municipalities including Gimli and Bifrost with branches in Arborg and Riverton.  The central library is located in Gimli. Miss Sigurbjorg Stefansson was instrumental in bringing the public library to the areaShe donated the land, the first building, generous financial support and her time. The present Gimli Library was jointly erected by the town and RM of Gimli in 1967. Because of the need to establish a cultural center, in 1972, the library was doubled in size with a grant from the RM and Gimli Development Corporation Ltd. The Evergreen Regional Library in Gimli has approximately 45,000 English books, 5000 Icelandic books, 500 Ukranian books, 200 Frenchbooks, and various German, Polish,Spanish and Italian books. The library also has some family histories on file.
